The Challenge: Revitalizing an Aging Business The client operated an existing playground at this prime Brooklyn location. However, the old equipment was outdated, and customer interest was fading. The goal was clear: remove the old structure and install a brand-new, high-impact attraction to win back customers and boost business revenue.
The constraints were significant. With only 190 sqm of floor space in a street-level shop, the client needed a design that felt “huge” and packed with activities to compete in the fierce New York market.
Weiroo’s Solution Our strategy was Vertical Maximization. Since the floor area was limited, we built up. We designed a compact but feature-rich 3-level structure that utilizes every cubic meter of the building’s height.
Our soft play equipment transformed the space from a simple play area into a multi-layered exploration fortress. The new design dramatically increased the “Play Capacity” (number of kids) without expanding the footprint.
Here are the futuristic features we packed into 190 sqm:
1. The “Time Tunnel” Experience We created a visual masterpiece on the top level: A transparent walkway with encircling LED ring lights. Walking through it feels like stepping into a sci-fi “Time Tunnel.” It’s a unique photo spot that parents love sharing on social media.
2. High-Density Vertical Play To connect the levels excitingly, we installed:
- Spider Tower: A vertical webbing tower that serves as a challenging climb to reach the top level. It saves floor space while providing excellent physical exercise.
- Ball Blaster Zone: Integrated into the upper levels, kids can shoot soft balls at targets below, adding an interactive battle element.
3. Immersive Sensory Zone To cater to younger children, we utilized the ground floor area to create a dedicated Sand Pit Zone. Within this zone, we placed Two Role-Play Houses, creating a mini “village” feel where toddlers can dig, build, and engage in imaginative play safely while older kids climb above.
4. Visual Anchors
- LED Streaming Slide: Replacing the old standard slide, this new slide features flowing LED lights that match the space theme, making the playground look vibrant and modern from the street windows.
The Result The name “NEW Running Kids” now truly lives up to its promise. The renovation has been a massive success. The high utilization of space means more kids can play simultaneously, and the modern Space Theme has re-established the venue as a top destination in Brooklyn’s community.
